DREAM TEAM
If you could have any player at any position and you had to lay down your bankroll on that team to be the best team in all of fantasy baseball, then what would your lineup look like? We will have 4 starters, 1 closer and 1 more reliever of your choice. Only 1 position player per position BUT you get one utility player, here’s mine.
C – Buster Posey
1B – Joey Votto
2B – Robbie Cano
3B – Miguel Cabrera
SS – Starlin Castro
LF – Ryan Braun
CF – Mike Trout
RF – Jose Bautista
Utl – Matt Kemp
SP – Justin Verlander
SP – Stephen Strasburg
SP – Clayon Kershaw
SP – Cole Hamels
Closer – Craig Kimbrel
Reliever – Aroldis Chapman
Now I know these all seem like no brainers, heck they are virtually all number ones in their respected positions BUT if you had to bet it all for just one season how much would injury play into it? Would you take Albert at 1B given his age? Do you take Strasburg who may again be limited in his innings?
I took Starlin Castro strictly because I think Tulo is destined to hit the DL. I considered Justin Upton who still can go 30/30 anytime and even Bryce Harper who could do the same soon enough because I’m still not sure about Bautista and his hand injury.
Oh well lets hear from you, if you had to lay it all down on the table what would your team look like?
Good Luck!

SCOOPS PLAYER RANKINGS
So, standard 5 x 5 scoring, no replacements for injury, right? Here’s my 2013 Dream Team then.
C – Buster Posey – He’s got it all.
1B – Prince Fielder – Benefits from a year of AL pitching under his belt, predicting a career year.
2B – Robinson Cano – No better fantasy second baseman.
3B – Miguel Cabrera – No words needed.
SS – Jose Reyes – Expecting 130+ runs batting in front that lineup. 50+ steals a good bet.
LF – Ryan Braun – A lock for Top 5 fantasy production.
CF – Andrew McCutchen – Top 5 in Runs, Hits & Average last year with 31 dingers too. A no brainer.
RF – Matt Kemp – Be surprised if he doesn’t go at least 35/35 this year. 40/40 a good bet.
UT – Adrian Beltre – Easily in Top 10 in Hits, Average & HR. Very consistent over his career.
SP – Clayton Kershaw – Yep
SP – Justin Verlander – Double Yep
SP – Felix Hernandez – Even with fences in The King offers better ERA & K’s than most and I will sacrifice a couple of Wins column to get those stats.
SP – Stephen Strasburg – Coming out party for Strasi this year (if that’s possible)
Closer – Craig Kimbrel – Head & Shoulder!
Reliever – Aroldis Chapman – Knees & Toes!
NOTABLE OMMISIONS:
Mike Trout. What, Mike Trout?! Yep, think he regresses slightly, which still puts him in the top 10 of course BUT his aggressive style puts him at risk for injury and if I can’t replace him I will roll the dice and leave him out. Gutsy or Stupid?
Joey Bats – Think his hand will be an issue, see his ceiling as 30 HR.
Joey Votto – The toughest omission for me.
Josh Hamilton – If Albert keeps JH focused and he avoid injury then look out!
